Equitable Housing

Merancas Land Bank Program

The Charlotte community is experiencing a crisis in affordable and equitable housing opportunities available for individuals who work very hard but are not able afford to live in good neighborhoods with access to jobs, transit, health care, education, and retail services. The Merancas Foundation recognizes this challenge and has formed an equitable housing land bank, which serves as an initiative to address this need for housing.

The Foundation is currently working with advisors, Give Impact, to identify, assess, and assist in purchasing the properties that meet our criteria.  Upon closing on the properties, Give Impact is coordinating with entities who are experienced in developing affordable and equitable housing, and can provide viable and competitive plans for quality and sustainable single and mixed-income housing.

Should there be interest in our initiatives, please contact info@merancas.org for additional information.
